I've been slugging through a lot of stuff.

I've been listening to the new Merchandise LP on mp3 for a while. Just got the LP in the mail earlier this week. I don't know all that much about the genre / influences, but the record sounds great. Quite the eye opener, though, watching them perform with their seeimingly rag tag collection of beep beep boop machines. Can't say there live performance added much to the records. Venue was cool. I'm bringing insect repellent next time. Also, two thumbs up to not putting curtains on the tatoo "studio" at that place.

Speaking of people from the cuckoo crazy state, the Mauser LP also sounds great. I'm looking forward to seeing them at the Hey! Cafe. The Vietnamese place up the street is good if you eat on the winning team.

Ceremony and Cold World may be ok at the Cypress Hall. I'm curious to see if there is much of a crowd.

True / False: Tragedy is playing at Siberia on May 5.

Baseball is back. The Giants are grinding them out. No complaints. Just looking for Lincecum to get his rhythm and hoping Zito keeps his chugging along.

HBO shows are coming and going. No complaints.

I'm reading "The Color of Water" which I highly recommend. I picked it up after being impressed by the author's commentary on a PBS show about Harper Lee.

The record is great, but I could do without "Become What You Are." "Time" is definitely the stand-out track, with "Roser Park" a close second. Still think I like the first LP better, though.

when is this? I thought Bryan was doing their show...maybe I'm making things up.

I guess I'll get back on this wagon now that it's got wheels again...I know it's just yesterday's news, but here's this week or what I can recall/the Internet tells me.

Human Teenager - Animal Husbandry
Jefre Cantu-Ledesma - Love is a Stream
Chrome - Read Only Memory // No Humans Allowed // Blood on the Moon // Half Machine Lip Moves // Alien Soundtracks // The Chronicles I & II // Having a Wonderful Time With the Tripods // Another World
Chris & Cosey - Songs of Love and Lust // Heartbeat
Gary War - Police Water
John Maus - Love is Real // We Must Become the Pitiless Censors of Ourselves
Broadcast - Extended Play Two
Actress - Hazyville
Belong - Same Places (Slow Version)
Tim Hecker - Harmony in Ultraviolet
Depeche Mode - Black Celebration
Nation of Ulysses - Plays Pretty for Baby
My Bloody Valentine - Loveless // Feed Me With Your Kiss
Throbbing Gristle - 20 Jazz Funk Greats
Tropic of Cancer - The End of All Things
Grouper - Way Their Crept
Dinosaur Jr - Where You Been // You're Living All Over Me // Without a Sound
Porter Ricks - Biokinetics
Autechre - Amber
Mortus Auris and the Black Hand - Sleep
Suicide - Second Album

A few of those were while I was finally re-organizing my records after selling a bunch of them and the rest being in disarray for too long, which was REALLY satisfying. So satisfying that I'm slightly concerned, but it's cool.

Haven't heard the *new* Actress yet, but I've read a lot of positive things about it and need to check it out. That Human Teenager stuff is incredible, and totally recommended. There's also some new Hype Williams releases (one as Dean Blunt and Inga Copeland) that I've only heard a little of, but I'm enjoying. Tried listening to the Ethel Merman disco album and it's even worse than I imagined...

Reading Oryx and Crake, watching Twin Peaks (just really powering through the rough few episodes with too much James and not enough direction by David Lynch), Mad Men, maybe going to see House tonight...

Oh, and I listened to the stuff I played on the radio. http://wtul.radioactivity.fm/playlist.html?djoid=6739&date=04-17-2012 If anybody is awake every other Monday at midnight, that's a thing that happens.

This wasted a sufficient amount of time! Thank you and sorry!

And you tried to get me to listen to that. Typical.

I am jumping in this for the first time. Cool.

This time of year I pretty much listen to everything by The Replacements and Neil Young (really just Harvest and the Ditch trilogy) over and over again. So I've been doing that.
This past week-ish:
The Men — Open Your Heart
New Order — Low-Life
A lot of Naked Raygun.
And lots of True Widow and Sleep and playlists focusing mostly around those two bands.

- ROKY ERICKSON SAME NIGHT AS TRAGEDY
- PHIL'S LIST IS PROOF HE LIKES RAC BANDS
- MERCHANDISE WAS A TREAT, DESPITE THE NEARLY UNBEARABLE, EAR SHATTERING FEEDBACK THAT DOMINATED THE MIX
- USER MALICE IS COOL FOR LISTENING TO CHROME AND SUICIDE
- DRAG RACE SEASON 4
- 'CUCKOO CRAZY STATE' COMMENT IS VERY FUNNY, THOUGH PERSONALLY, I THINK LA. HAS FL. BEAT IN COMPLETE MENTAL CASES AND WEIRDOS 10 TO 1 (A COMPLIMENT)
- NO LOCAL STORES GETTING THE RECORD STORE DAY 'PICK YOUR KING' REISSUE
- RAINBO RECORDS BEING VERY SLOW TO GET ME MY SHIT / REALIZATION THAT PUTTING OUT A RECORD IS ESSENTIALLY FLUSHING MONEY DOWN THE TOILET (NO MATTER HOW MUCH YOU LIKE IT)
- HAPPY BIRTHDAY DREW

That feedback at the Merch show was all Carson. Even after they blew my PA head, it was coming through his speakers as he pointed the mic at them between lines. What a dum dum.

Not sure what's up with that Ceremony show. As far as I know, they're not confirmed anywhere yet. Idk!

Tried listening to Grouper, but I couldn't get into it. Just sounded like Enya to me.

SOLD OUT. also, the dude who runs S&S is a scumbag. he had the boston strangler LP up on his site as 'coming soon' for weeks, then he took all his copies to ebay.
